The ISPI'01 (International Symposium on Plasticity and Impact 2001) was held in Zhuhai, China on 28-30 December 2001, dedicated to Professor YU’s 60th birthday, was a great success. All the participants in that event had an excellent academic gathering. We are now pleased to announce that the Second International Symposium on Plasticity and Impact (ISPI’09) will be held in Beijing, China on October 23-25, 2009. The Aim of ISPI’09 is to bring together students and friends of Professor Yu and review, discuss, and exchange ideas involved in plasticity and impact engineering, and to present their latest findings, as well as dedicated to Professor YU’s retirement from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
