1. Non-equilibrium interfacial dynamics, e.g.,evaporation\/condensation, droplet\/bubble nucleation and growth, contact line dynamics; 2. Aerothermodynamics, e.g., space vehicle re-entry, reacting and radiative flows, hypersonic flows, gas\/surface interactions, ablation; 3. Surface confined nano-scale transport phenomena, where fluid flow and transport processes occur at small length scales are inherently non-equilibrium and strongly influenced by surface effects, confinement, and external forces; 4. Particle transport in rarefied fluid flows as found in Mars landing, lithographic process etc. |
