Abstract

Abstract

This paper gives an overview on the new smart materials such as electro-rheological fluids and the ultra-advanced intelligent composite material as well as its principle and future prospects.The compofites with embedded optical fibres-the smart skins are introduced and the principle,feasibility and application of the fibre optical monitoring system are discussed. Surveys on the current and further studies on that field are presented.
