Adaptive FEM is a numerical scheme which can automatically adjust algorithms to improve the solving procedure. Based on the ordinary FEM, the key techniques of it includes the error estimation, adaptive refinement, etc. The paper presents a brief review for the advanced improvement and applications of adaptive FEM. 
