Liquid jet atomizationin high speed crossflow is an important and complicated phenomenonin turbine engine and scramjet which use liquid carbon-hydrogenfuel. Atomization is related to evaporation and burningefficiency, and thus has important influence on engineperformances. The development of experiment research and numericalsimulation of jet atomization in high speed crossflow are reviewedand discussed, with emphases laid on the following subjects:mechanism and numerical simulation model of first atomization andsecondary atomization, wave phenomena in atomization processes,the methods of decision of spray penetration and its influencefactors, structure of gas and liquid mixing zone, the usualmeasure instruments, et al. Finally, the problem and the futuredevelopment directions are pointed out.
