Abstract:
Hydrogen energy is the most promising carbon neutral and clean energy carrier. Natural gas mixed with hydrogen has advantages in pipeline transportation and terminal application. This paper investigates the international representative natural gas hydrogen blending research and demonstration projects, and analyzes the feasibility and economy of natural gas hydrogen blending pipeline transportation and terminal application. The research results show that the low proportion of hydrogen (within 20% by volume) added to the natural gas pipe network system will not significantly increase the relevant accident risks and hazards. Under the condition of slight transformation of the system, the maximum volume proportion of hydrogen (50%) can be allowed to add to the natural gas pipe network system. Through economic analysis, the cost of natural gas hydrogen blending is calculated, which provides a reference for power plants. In view of the differences in natural gas composition, pipeline conditions and pipeline materials in various countries, analysis and research on natural gas hydrogenation should be carried out according to the specific conditions of one country's pipelines and gases.
