Abstract:
The hardening soil with small strain stiffness (HSS), which can clearly reflect the nonlinear behavior of soils at small strain range, has been widely applied in numerical analysis of soil deformation. The offshore wind turbine foundation requires a strict control of soil deformation and hence it needs to consider the soil small strain properties. In this study, laboratory tests, including oedometer, consolidated drained triaxial, drained loading-unloading-reloading triaxial and resonant column tests, are carried out to determine the HSS model parameters for the marine soils in Dafeng area, Jiangsu province. The relationship between these parameters and the physical properties of the soil is also proposed. The test results can provide important references for determining the model parameters in numerical analysis using HSS model.
