Abstract:
The interaction between ice sheet and sloping structure isstudied. Models are built according to the emersed part and floating part ofthe ice sheet, respectively. Bending moment distribution in the ice sheet isanalyzed to determine where a bending failure may occur. The analyticsolution of breaking length for ice sheet is obtained. The results indicate thatthe breaking length of ice sheet is neither proportional to the thickness of icesheet nor dependent on the characteristic length of ice sheet. The resultsin this paper are consistent with the experimental data in previousresearches, which can serve as a reference for design and field experiment ofoffshore ice-resistant structure.
