Abstract
The ICM (independent continuous mapping) method as a topology optimization methods is used to design thetrunnions in transformers. The formulae of the distributed load in the holeare derived. According to the FEM analysis and topologicaloptimization results, two new structures of the trunnion are proposed. Thenumerical results show that the new structures can meet the requirements ofstrength and rigidity and the weight of the structures is reduced.
