OVERVIEW OF CHOU PEIYUAN'S TURBULENCE THEORY

This year marks the 120th anniversary of the birth of Mr. Chou Peiyuan (August 28, 1902~November 24, 1993). In memory of the great master, the turbulence theories developed by Mr. Chou during more than half a century is briefly surveyed. The contents include “pre-model-theory” of turbulence, statistical theory of turbulence with vortex structure, similarity theory and method of successive approximation. Finally, Mr. Chou's contribution to turbulence research is summarized.
