Fatigue crack initiation is an important period in thewhole fatigue life. The crack initiation period cannot beestimated with fracture mechanics, which is used for large cracks. In this paper,the crack initiation life estimate equation is deduced by using thefatigue damage continuous curve with the basis of experimental dataobtained from the crack initiation plastic hysteresis energy as a controlparameter.
